We’re a long way out from the 2017 NFL season and this time of year is especially difficult to get excited about, there’s more than just new faces in the Indianapolis Colts’ locker room., but all of the new faces are helping maintain some excitement between now and training camp. But

a positive outlook is evident around Indy regarding the recent changes.,The addition of general manager Chris Ballard – with the ambiance he has brought to the Colts’ front office and the smart contracts that have accompanied him – is going a long way towards revitalizing an impatient fan base. Despite the unknown chemistry of the defensive additions

But there has been a serious loss of leadership in the locker room, and a looming question as to who would fill those roles, let alone provide some authority, moving forward.

Yes, the Colts have had leadership on the field and in the locker room, but their voices are rarely in the forefront, dropping bold statements or making their confidence truly heard. This offseason we’ve witnessed both, from new and familiar faces.

Perhaps the most important offseason acquisition, Johnathan Hankins, hasn’t been shy at all about his feelings regarding the defense. Twice he has come out with some strong opinions,Kyler Fackrell Jersey, saying “we got probably the best defense in the AFC” a couple weeks ago, then a week later saying the team has the guys to “shock” the NFL.

Maybe talking about being the best defense in the AFC is a bit outlandish,Authentic Quinten Rollins Jersey, hesitant to stand out., but it was obvious that Hankins meant it. He wants to lead by example and be a part of something special. I simply can’t remember the last time a Colt was so bold – they always seemed muffled

And in March,Ty Montgomery Jersey, and said he wants to be a part of turning the stigma around the Colts’ past defenses on its head – to create a new culture., new linebacker John Simon stated he was going to bring “the nastiness” to the team. Simon wants to be in Indianapolis

With Erik Walden kind of being the “nasty” on the Colts’ defense over the past few seasons, bolstering one of the weakest positions on the roster. Simon’s willingness to take a leadership role will be paramount to his helping the defense grow over the next couple seasons as well., the Simon acquisition is that much more important. He brings youth and moxie

Speaking of added leadership – Vontae Davis, was quite outspoken as the players began to file into the complex in early May. Davis stated he wanted to “lead by example” and was well aware that the early-round additions from the draft – Malik Hooker and Quincy Wilson – “will look up to me” and “we expect a lot from those guys”., whose vocal leadership has been questioned in the past

Davis said he’d made a name for himself in the league,Without tooting his own horn, and spoke about his own draft stock when coming out of school. Yes, but it was just nice to hear him acknowledge his place in the league over the past several seasons, and in a roundabout way, he did it without trying to sound self-absorbed, as well as alluding to his expectations in 2017.

None of this might seem like much,Authentic Kyler Fackrell Jersey,Authentic Damarious Randall Jersey, but until now,Damarious Randall Jersey,Quinten Rollins Jersey, Colts’ fans have relied upon Chuck Pagano to dish out the gloating about new players as well as those coming back from down years. And to be fair, it has become tiresome coming from his mouth. Trent Richardson has been a “rolling ball of butcher knives” and LaRon Landry was a “game-wrecker” among too many others who had similarly disappointing outcomes.
